Alright, we’ve been waiting for this. After all the weird teasing he did with singles only available on YouTube or Instagram, we finally got a glimpse of a real album happening. On September 12th, the bald British guy appeared on all of Opium’s stories: "NEW CARTI ANNOUNCEMENT TONIGHT!" And sure enough, at 9:30, there was an announcement. Carti launched a preorder for his album, I AM MUSIC, which will most likely come out in 2025. However, while the album was announced, no release date was given, leaving it a mystery for now.

Then, at midnight, surprising everyone, he dropped a single. Here’s what I think about it:

It’s a pretty simple rage/trap beat produced by F1LTHY, but honestly, it doesn’t do much for me. We all know Carti has multiple voices, but did you know he can imitate Future perfectly? I’m not kidding—if I didn’t know this was a Carti song, I would’ve thought it was a Future track, and a fairly average one at that. Out of all the singles he released earlier this year, this is easily the weakest. There’s really not much to break down here—just a disappointing single for an upcoming album that’s been hyped to death.

I’m still looking forward to I AM MUSIC, but I really hope it’s not filled with tracks like this one.
