Absolutely

So, after vibing with Dijon's single "Good Luck" and the track "ally-oop" from his 2020 EP, I figured it was finally time to check out his 2021 album, Absolutely. Honestly, if you're into Mk.gee or Choker, or even somebody as big as Frank Ocean there's a good chance you'll dig this project a lot. A lot of the album feels like Dijon’s just free-flowing over some ambient R&B beats, which isn’t a bad thing at all. The first track isn’t anything cutting edge or revolutional but it still makes for a solid intro. I just wish "Scratching" was a full song—it’s got potential, but it ends way too soon. Then there's "The Dress," which has these cool '80s-inspired chords, and I’m totally here for it. "God In Wilson" and "Rodeo Clown" hit with some super relatable lyrics, especially "Rodeo Clown," where Dijon gets really raw and emotional—you can practically hear him breaking down. It’s intense, but the abrupt ending kinda leaves you hanging. The last track? A total curveball. It’s short, switches up the vibe, and honestly feels like something Bon Iver would help produce. At first glance, Absolutely might seem a bit messy, but that’s what sets it apart from your typical R&B album. Dijon definitely wears his influences proudly, but he still delivers something fresh and true to himself. And to this project I say, Absolutely.
