333
Alright, so I’ll be honest—I know next to nothing about the Brazilian rap scene, and on top of that I don’t understand a word of Portuguese. My grasp of Matuê is super limited, but from the five minutes I spent Googling him, I found out he’s a pretty huge deal in Brazil. That’s probably why everyone’s talking about "333." I clicked on it because I saw a TikTok edit of the streamer IShowSpeed to one of the songs/
I won’t go too deep since, like I said, I’m no expert here, but "333" is a solid rap album. There’s some cool genre mixing happening, and Matuê’s got a great voice and flow. The only song in English is "Like This!," so if you want to know what the rest of it’s about, you’re better off asking someone who actually speaks Portuguese.
My one critique is that the album’s a little inconsistent. It’s not bad overall, but there are a few tracks that don’t hit as hard as the others. Like, "Maria" is probably the weakest song, but it’s right before "333," which is easily the best. Same deal with "4Tal"—kind of a low point sandwiched between two better tracks. It’s not a huge issue, but a little more consistency would’ve been nice. Still, though, it’s a good listen with some standout songs, so I can’t complain too much.
