my anti-aircraft friend

Julie’s a band I’ve been keeping tabs on for a solid two years now. Their vibe; gloomy, bleak, kind of sarcarstic, but with tight, clever instrumentation and some seriously cool vocal techniques—has always grabbed my attention. I’ve been waiting for this debut forever, combing through every single, EP, and random live show recording just to get another taste of what they’re about. And let me tell you, it was worth the wait.

Sure, there’s a bit of repetition across the tracklist, but their signature style still shines through. The lyrics lean into these dystopian vibes, and the instrumentation? Still killer. Every riff, every drumline, every bassline feels intentional, like it’s sewn right into the fabric of each song. They don’t just rely on the vocals to tell the story—they build entire soundscapes with the instruments. I like this album a lot it’s very cool and melodramatic.
