Your Name.
I don’t usually pay much attention to film scores, but Your Name completely pulled me in, and a lot of that is because of the music. RADWIMPS crafted something that doesn’t just sit in the background—it actively moves with the story, amplifying every emotional beat in a way that feels almost effortless. It’s cinematic, sure, but it also has this raw, youthful energy that makes it stand out from the usual orchestral-heavy anime scores.
What really struck me was how well the soundtrack mirrors the film’s themes of connection, longing, and fate. Tracks like Sparkle and Zen Zen Zense have this sweeping, almost dreamlike quality that fits the film’s tone perfectly, while the softer, piano-driven moments hit with an emotional weight that lingers long after the credits roll. It’s rare for a score to feel this alive—it doesn’t just accompany the visuals, it feels like it’s breathing with them.
Even outside of the movie, the music holds up. It’s beautifully composed, packed with emotion, and somehow manages to be both intimate and massive at the same time. For a soundtrack that’s a little out of the ordinary for me, I was surprised by how much I loved it. Your Name already delivers a stunning story, but the music? That’s what truly makes it unforgettable.
