Ok, don’t get me wrong, I do really like this song, I just think my expectations were a lot different than the piece we actually got. The snippet of this song was way better. And no, it’s not just "snippet syndrome." Carti’s verse honestly sounds off, it’s either he’s just trying a monotone voice out, or this could be some Kanye level AI usage. I have no idea how they processed his vocals, but they sound super unnatural. Who thought it was a good idea to leave out the reverb? It’s so dry and just messes up the vibe. As for The Weeknd, his part feels kinda unnecessary, even though it’s his track. He just rides the same flow the whole time, and it drags on. He could’ve switched it up and made it way more interesting.Overall, it’s not a bad song, but it could’ve been better. The beat is incredibly simple but thats what makes the whole cohesion of the song fire, and I still love Carti’s flow switches, but the mixing and lack of variety hold it back big time. I feel like they just could’ve made it louder or stronger…
