SIERRA NIGHTS

Kevin Abstract's second single, "SIERRA NIGHTS," from his upcoming project, is as out-there as "SLUGGER," and honestly, I’m really into it. Kevin's autotuned vocals, which I wasn’t sure about at first, are starting to grow on me. They’re super wavy and melodic, matching the beat perfectly. Then Ryan Beatty comes in with his raw vocals on the chorus, keeping things balanced so Kevin’s new vocal style doesn’t take over completely.

The production? Insane. The first half hits with this glitchy, video game-type beat that’s paired with these dreamy pads and loud, punchy drums, which I love. Then out of nowhere, the second half switches it up to something more acoustic, but the drums stay just as hype, which is a nice touch.

Lyrically, it’s a little meh. Kevin's clearly more focused on experimenting with the sound, so the lyrics don’t really stand out. They’re not super catchy, and there’s no clear theme, but there’s this loose idea about taking risks and not repeating the same mistakes while he’s hustling to make money.

Overall, I think it’s awesome and I need Kevin to drop a few more songs or a new project sometime soon.
