LIVE.LOVE.A$AP
The debut studio album by New York rapper A$ap Rocky, Live.Love.A$ap is an almost high-inducing body of work. The mixture of beats produced by Clams Casino, Kelvin Krash, DJ Burn One, and SpaceGhostPurpp creates a floating, otherworldly feel to the album. With standout songs such as Peso, Houston Old Head, and Sandman, the album has amazing tracks to back itself with. Live.Love.A$sap is one of my favorite debut albums, and perhaps one of the greatest debut albums of the last decade. With it being almost 15 years old at this point, the album has aged beautifully with high replayability and a sound that has yet to fall off. The album is heavily influenced by Dirty South Hip Hop and early forms of cloud rap that were being released at the time. Along with that, it includes trippy soundscapes, chopped choruses, and slower beats. This style was not popular at that time, especially since Rocky is from New York.
All in all the album was a great debut for Rocky and paved the way for his later career. It also opened up the music industry to a relatively new sound, that would go on to be one of the greatest sub-genres in history.
