CIRCLES
“Circles” is the last album by rapper Mac Miller. Released 2 years after his death, it is a part of the uncompleted album trilogy that also includes Swimming. The album dives deep into themes of sorrow and how life continues no matter what is happening. As i write this i am relistening to the album and the never before has the soft tones and soulful words resonated with me more. The realization time and time again as you listen to the lyrics in Mac’s music almost brings me to tears as I dive deeper into the depths of Mac’s music. This album hits especially hard with songs like “Good news”, “Everybody”, and “Hand me Downs” diving deep into themes of depression, drugs and love. The production on this album is full of muted beauty and smooth tones that pair so beautifully with Mac Miller's voice. The layering of sounds and almost ethereal music almost makes you feel like you are floating as you listen to the album. This is one of the most beautiful yet hard to listen to albums released in recent years, and for a lot of fans who grew up listening to Mac Miller, who grew with him and watched his music evolve, this album may bring you to tears. In my mind this is a perfect album, not long but not short, beautiful, at peace, introspective and portrays the message that it set out to explain. This is one of Mac’s best projects, and it will forever be a great tragedy that the trilogy was never completed, and that Mac was taken from us so soon.
