Leon

Leon Bridges has really carved out a niche for himself with that signature voice, blending old-school soul vibes with a modern twist. Since breaking out with Coming Home back in 2015, he's been on a roll, delivering these really smooth, timeless tracks that feel like they belong in a different era while still sounding fresh. He’s one of those artists that kinda transports you—his music feels like a warm, vintage filter on life. And once again, on this album, he brings all of that soulful energy.

Now, to be real, this type of music isn’t usually my thing. I don’t tend to dive into soul or anything that leans too much into that old-school sound, but Leon has a way of performing that makes it hard to dislike. He’s got this authenticity to him that draws you in, and while I wouldn’t say I’m totally in love with the album, I can respect it. It’s smooth, well-produced, and honestly, just good, harmless soul music. If you’re into that laid-back, feel-good vibe, there’s no doubt you’ll enjoy what he’s doing here.

That being said, for me personally, it’s fine. Not life-changing, but enjoyable enough. I’d give it a solid 8 out of 10. It’s the kind of album you put on in the background while you’re cooking or chilling, but it’s not necessarily something I’d reach for on my own too often.

That said, I’ve got to give a shout-out to "Laredo." That song is a banger—easily the best track on the album by a mile. I can totally see it having the Leon Bridges radio affect where every channel is playing it, like Texas Sun or beyond. It’s got this infectious groove to it that stands out from the rest of the record. If nothing else, give Laredo a listen because it’s the one that really hit for me.
