Genesis

This project sounds great and has a very cool background, the artist Leon Thomas might not be the most well-known for his music, but you might recognize him from his roles in television. Andre from Victorious or the singing voice for Tyrone on The Backyardigans. Even in the music industry, he’s probably better known for his duo project, The Rascals, with Khristopher Riddick-Tynes. The duo has produced for big names like Ariana Grande, Drake, and Ty Dolla $ign, and even earned writing credits on albums like Positions by Ariana Grande and Certified Lover Boy by Drake. But Leon has also made solo music before. This is the first solo project of his that I heard through my recommended on spotify, and I liked it. This is a really flowy and smooth contemporary R&B project, and it’s very enjoyable. The production throughout is good, with super catchy rythms and unique usage of usual Rnb instruments. It’s mixed well, and you can hear everything very clearly. The instrumentals are solid throughout, and his vocals are really good here. His voice works well with the soulfull fast paced Rnb he aims to create, and the harmonies are great. The features do a good job too. The lyrics aren’t the best part; while not terrible, some of the lyrics could have been better. “PLW” is by far my favorite track, its so incredibly ambient and beautiful while also being loud and rhytmic, the lyrics, vocals, and production is just incredible on this one. Most of the songs range from mediocre to actually being kinda amazing. Overall, this project is good. While some lyrics could have been better, the production is good, the instrumentals are good, the vocals are really good, and the harmonies are also really good. This is a good project in my opinion.
