Flying High

There isn't much to say about this since it's just 13 minutes long (excluding the instrumentals) of great Alchemist beats that showcase how talented this guy is. It's a fantastic use of sampling, with aerial beats that feel like you're on holiday (the cover art really nails that vibe) and old-school production that still feels fresh even though I'm getting used to Alc's style. All of the guests do a good job on this album since they're all talented rappers and lyricists, some better than others. Earl Sweatshirt and billy woods deliver an awesome performance on the first track, and MIKE on "Bless" sounds amazing, making me wonder why I haven't heard of him before. Even if I'm less convinced by some of the verses on here (particularly TF's), they all do a solid job of completing the vibe Alchemist has crafted, and their performances are consistent without anyone hogging the spotlight. Overall, I don't have much to say, probably because there's not much material, but let me just say this is a nice little EP from the Alchemist that once more flexes his ability to produce awesome beats that make you float and his knack for picking great guests to feature on them. Not anything special, not a lot going on, but a satisfactory quick project for sure – I'll be waiting for part 2.
