MatC is back with another EP, and honestly, I’m kinda blown away—five projects in one year? That’s insane. I first checked out his third EP, anthems for still pictures, which honestly made me kind of just shrug it off. At the time, it didn’t click with me. Ambient music wasn’t really my thing yet, and that EP didn’t exactly pull me in. Since then, I’ve gotten way more into ambient vibes and even ended up liking his debut album, Utoscapes, for its cool soundscapes and neo-psychedelic feel. Now that I’m more into the genre, I’d love to go back and give his older stuff another shot—I bet I'd get way more out of it now.
So yeah, I was excited to check out this new EP, even if I was a little skeptical seeing it’s just two tracks totaling 24 minutes. Don’t get me wrong, I like MatC’s stuff, but was I really going to vibe with two 12-minute tracks? Spoiler: YUP! I don’t know why I was worried, honestly. The longer runtime actually makes these tracks so much more immersive. You can totally lose yourself in these songs—they’re peaceful, beautiful, and serene in the best way possible, with an atmosphere that’s thick and blissful. It’s like you’re floating up into the sky, carried by some ethereal, angelic lift-off.
This EP is just two tracks, but they’re packed with this lush, dreamy vibe that makes you feel like you’re in another world. I’m honestly surprised how much I enjoyed it given the length, but it was worth it. I’ll definitely be diving back into MatC’s past projects soon to see if they hit differently now. Overall, this EP is a gem—calming, gorgeous, and an experience that leaves you floating.
