I had high hopes for this release, expecting something more sophisticated than previous works like "Suburn" or the hyper cuts on "Don’t Forget About Me Demos," but found it to be a mixed bag of mediocre songs, painfully witty mixes, and only two standout tracks. "hi grace" and "to say to say" were among the most witty and painful songs of 2024, with choppy vocals and confusing instrumentals detracting from the experience. However, "1.23.23" and "misses" stand out as the only redeeming aspects. While some tracks show promise with cool ideas and highlights, most feel unfinished and unpolished. Despite criticism labeling it as boring and pointless, there are glimpses of substance in some tracks, albeit hindered by their brevity and unfinished state. The EP showcases some nice alt-pop moments, with standout tracks like "THICKRICK," "Bowie Box," "Misses," and "Coast2Coast," each offering unique charms and vibes. However, the short length of these songs leaves much to be desired, preventing the project from reaching its full potential. Hopefully, future releases will explore these sounds further and deliver a more cohesive record.
