ZUU

This album has been incredibly special to me over the past year, solidifying Denzel Curry as one of my favorite rappers EVER. Despite its brilliance, it's surprisingly underrated, with an unjust average user score of only 77. The album is flawless, every track a banger without a single skip. It opens with "ZUU," a raw and powerful track that sets the tone with heavy instrumentals, despite some corny lyrics. The energy peaks with "RICKY," an homage to Curry's family and his late brother, filled with advice and fiery beats. "WISH," featuring Kiddo Marv, showcases a catchy, groovy vibe, blending their Miami roots seamlessly. My current favorite, "BIRDZ," featuring Rick Ross, is aggressively intense and sounds like a supervillain anthem. "AUTOMATIC" keeps the momentum with a straightforward yet hard-hitting collaboration with Tay Keith. "SPEEDBOAT," another standout, mixes Denzel's reflections on wealth and loss, with a hauntingly powerful chorus. The interludes like "BUSHY B INTERLUDE" and skits like "YOO" provide entertaining breaks, while "BLACKLAND 66.6" emphasizes Curry's loyalty to his roots. Tracks like "CAROLMART" and "SHAKE 88" maintain high energy, the latter being a strip club anthem with a bouncy beat. The album closes with the intense "P.A.T.," a nod to Curry's early career, featuring PlayThatBoiZay. ZUU might not be as complex as TA13OO or Melt My Eyez See Your Future, but its relentless energy and hard-hitting beats make it an absolute masterpiece. Despite differing opinions, this album reinforces my admiration for Denzel Curry and proves that even his "worst" work is extraordinary. If you love heavy-hitting tracks, this album is perfect for you. Give it a listen, and you will not at all be disspointed.
