We Are The Ones We’ve Been Waiting For

This project is a masterful assortment of different productions, all being pretty different but within the same scope of cohesion. This mixtape is painted in breakcore, through its loud and rapidly paced drums it creates a sonic medium for all different kinds of samples and instruments to dance on. This is one of the first times i’ve ever seen breakcore being used along side lo-fi drums and instrumentals, usually this type of thing just doesn’t work together, but in this case each individual merging of drums were meticulously done with care leading to a great and unique sound. The initial beat switch in PINK ENERGY is what caused me to really closely analyze each individual aspect of the mix, the sampling is done extremely well using random conversations and musical noises in order to further the meaning of each track. Another thing I thoroughly enjoyed about this was the usage of ambient tones, it set a really interesting mood for each track that just ties into the overall level of cohesion. THE UNSPOKEN TRUTHS has a really awesome infusion of jazz within it, it reminds me of somebody like caleb giles or slauson malone. DELICATE GANGSTER is an absolute banger and the whole rhythm and work of the beat had me going crazy. Some tracks seem to be scratching the surface of a new stylistic journey for POOLSIDE NIGHTMARE, like the extremely upbeat and bouncy acid rain, though he is yet to expand upon it. XXX is one of my favorite tracks purely just because of how fun it is and the mood it sets, it all works perfectly together to paint this kind of pimp beat-hop aura. The rock and roll drums on PHOENIX were super well received by me I really appreciated that merging of all these different drum types on this one project. ECHO CHAMBER II was a major highlight of this album for me, because it sounded so nostalgic like an old videogame ost, something super reminiscent to a beat 454 would make. My one major flaw with this album is that there were many tracks that seemingly felt to just make this project longer, and didnt provide anything new or fun, some tracks felt as if they were there purely just to extend run time. Aside from that, this is an awesome instrumental album I would recommend to any who enjoys hip-hop instrumentals.
