Ultra 85

I actually had a really tough time getting into logic, something about his whole approach to me either felt like it lacked authenticity or just put too much of it in your face. Now after some time him and his work has really matured. In this project I really liked his whole approach towards everything. This album feels like Logic just vibing, rapping over some wild jazz beats, trap bangers, and a few more chilled-out tracks like "Innerstellar" and "LOVE ME." The album's sound is all over the place, in the best way possible. You get that right from the jump with "Paul Rodriguez," where Logic just goes off for almost 9 minutes over what might be the best beat on the whole thing.

I gotta shout out "Ghost in the Machine" too. We finally get the "Spun Out" sample we've been waiting for, and it hits hard with a smooth beat switch to an introspective verse from ADÉ over some minimalist jazz. It's been a long time coming, and while I wish the beat lasted longer than 1:45, it still delivers and shows off Logic's knack for tonal shifts and his tight bond with his collaborators.

Since Ultra 85 is supposed to be a prequel to his previous work called The Incredible True Story, we get to see his stories characters named Thomas and Kai meet for the first time on their trip with Rosalyn, the ship's AI. It's a cool addition to Logic's whole universe and a solid follow-up to the skits from T.I.T.S. It's funny, it's smart, and it just works.

Logic gets real about the stuff we’ve heard before, but instead of sounding tired, he dives deep, crafting verses, one-liners, and flows that demand your attention. He even touches on some of his childhood trauma, which, while tough to hear, adds a layer of depth and healing to the album.

All in all, Logic’s killed it again, creating a universe that reminds me of The Incredible True Story but with its own unique twist. He and his team keep dropping projects that sound fresh and different production-wise, while still staying true to what makes Logic... Logic.

At this point, you either vibe with Logic or you don't. You know what you're gonna get, tight flows, clever wordplay, conscious lyrics, and a matured sound. But this album's got something for every Logic adjacent fan.
