The Night the Zombies Came

Sometimes, artists hit a point where all their new stuff feels like it’s riffing on their biggest hit—but in a watered-down, not-as-interesting way. I’m not saying every track here is just a rehash, but they all kinda sound like “Where Is My Mind?” in some form. That song was unique and genre-bending, so it makes sense they’d want to chase that vibe again, but it’s just... a lot of the same energy.

Then there’s the structure: almost every song has this weird, cut-off feel. Like, I’d get to the end and think, “Wait, that’s it?” And even though they end abruptly, they somehow feel too long? Most songs are built on two verses, and then the chorus stretches out forever. It’s an odd choice. Some of the tracks just kinda fade out aimlessly too. Take “Chicken” for example—it has this super long outro that doesn’t add anything but time.

That said, they’re still bringing it technically. There are some sick riffs and solos here, and I caught myself tapping along more than once. Plus, I do like how dreamy and spaced-out the whole album sounds; it reminds me a lot of the vibe “Where Is My Mind?” nailed.

And I gotta say, the lyrics made me laugh. Like, opening with “Sometimes I feel like a chicken” was a choice, and I respect it. The whole zombie theme across the album is pretty fun, too.

But in the end, it still feels like a lot of the songs are undercooked. They’re all recycling the same musical ideas for three minutes straight without much else. This could’ve been a solid album, but every track just needed a bit more love to really stand out.
