2hollis is one of those artists who’s clearly trying to carve out his own lane. You can feel that on this project—it’s messy and inconsistent, yeah, but there’s also a sense of someone trying to pioneer a sound that doesn’t quite exist yet. That’s cool in itself.
His style lives somewhere between electronic glitch-pop and lo-fi internet rap. The production leans heavily on scattershot bleeps and bloops, full of skittish textures and digital noise that almost feel like they’re meant to overwhelm you. Vocally, he mostly sticks to this monotone, almost detached talking style that won’t be for everyone, but kind of works in the context of the sound he’s going for. It’s not really about technical vocal skill—it’s more of a vibe, more performance art than pop music in the traditional sense.
That said, the songwriting still feels underdeveloped. A lot of the lyrics repeat without much depth—there’s one track that literally cycles through "Hey. You. Who are you?” for a while, and it doesn’t really build into anything. On at least two songs, he seems stuck in this loop of social anxiety, worrying if everyone is watching him. There’s something almost interesting about that, like it could’ve gone deeper, but it ends up just floating on the surface.
Toward the end of the album, he does try out a few more stripped-down, serious moments. They’re not super successful from a songwriting perspective, but they do at least show that he’s pushing himself to expand emotionally—so I respect the attempt even if it doesn’t fully land.
What’s clear is that 2hollis is still figuring himself out artistically. He has a distinct aesthetic, and that’s half the battle in today’s music world. But right now, it sounds like he’s trying really hard to define his identity, and the music doesn’t always catch up to the concept. There's potential here for sure, but the execution still feels early-stage.
I wouldn’t say the album is “bad,” just that it’s not all the way there yet. It’s a sketch of something that could become really compelling with more refinement—maybe some vocal training, stronger writing, or just time to evolve. There’s value in what he’s doing because at the very least, it doesn’t sound like everything else. That’s worth something.
