Sailor Song

I really wanted to vibe with this song like everyone else, but it’s just not hitting for me. The lyrics feel kinda shallow, like they’re just about a girl whining about another girl. Maybe I’m missing something deeper, but that’s the main takeaway I got. Some lines are fine, but nothing that really grabs me.

That being said, the first 25 seconds are gold. It’s got this perfect, cozy fall vibe, almost like something you’d hear while driving late at night up the west coast somewhere. But after that, the song kind of loses me. The chorus is catchy, but not in a way that sticks with you. I do think she’s a great singer, but honestly, in this recording, her voice almost sounds masculine? It’s weird because in live performances, you can tell it’s a woman, but in the studio version, it feels like the vocal tone got a little lost.

I can totally see why people love it—the vibe, the catchiness—but personally, I’m just not feeling it.
