RMCM
RMCM by Richy Mitch and the Coal Miners is seriously underrated. The places it takes you and the stories it tells are on another level from any album I’ve listened to. It has some of the most euphoric highs, thanks to the incredible writing from Mitchell Cutts and the band, along with this perfect balance of simple but powerful instrumentation that brings the lyrics to life.
The standout track for me has to be Lucerne. It feels like a true anthem and embodies everything RMCM sets out to achieve. Plus, the way this album opens is just unreal—the first four tracks might just be the best start to any album, period. There’s this seamless flow, and each song pulls you in deeper.
Now, if I’m being honest, the only thing holding RMCM back from being a perfect album is the tracklist. It’s a bit long, and a couple of songs like Fall of Fairbanks and Porcelain don’t quite hit the same mark, feeling more like fillers that don’t add much musically or lyrically. But even with those, RMCM stands out as one of my favorites—Richy Mitch and the Coal Miners really outdid themselves here.
