REACTOR

Listening to Femtanyl feels like stepping into a rave hosted by a fever dream. They’ve got this chaotic, high-energy vibe that’s kinda like if Machine Girl went on a bender and decided to make music for the Hardcore and Hardcore Breaks crowd. People in that scene love them, and I get it—they bring something unique. But for me? Their stuff can be all over the place. Some tracks hit hard, and others leave me scratching my head, wondering what’s going on. Still, when it’s good, it’s good—I’m not mad at it.

The vocal mixing on this album, though? Man, it’s a trip. Half the time it’s glitchy or so quiet you’d think they don’t want you to hear the lyrics. Maybe that’s the point? If so, okay, respect for the artistic direction. But if not, it’s like, “What’s happening here? Who greenlit this?” It’s part of their charm, I guess, but it makes it tough to fully connect with the tracks sometimes.

That said, the Danny Brown feature? Absolute chef’s kiss. It’s the standout moment by far. When his signature “chaaa” tag dropped, I couldn’t help but grin like an idiot. It’s one of those moments that makes you sit up and pay attention, like, “Okay, now we’re talking.” Even if the rest of the album doesn’t totally land, this track is the kind of highlight that makes you glad you gave it a spin.
