PXE

This EP is a beautiful interpretation of body dysphoria and finding ones true self, often times referencing what it means to be a consciousness of energy and exploration. Ecco displays these ideals throughout the idea of making “pixie” music ; catchy melodies played through loud distortion and static fuzz. Although his music defies norms and refuses to be confined to a specific genre, Ecco is still able to embark into a completely new sonic landscape comparative to what he’s previously done. I seriously commend his ability to create music that already resides within his niche audience. Ecco2k is able to look past societal constraints of music and create purely based off of what he hears in the music of the soul, regardless of the average listeners interpretation of it would be. This project has an entire movement and aesthetic wrapped around it, from the cartoonish visuals to the introspective ideals, PXE has the ability to change a lot of different things. The incorporation of glitch pop elements enhances Ecco2k's music, resulting in lively and enjoyable tracks. Songs like "In The Flesh" and "No***'s Song" exude a happy hyperpop vibe, with intriguing vocals adding to the appeal. Tracks like "Jalouse" showcase excellent vocals complemented by a futuristic blend of guitar and experimental sounds. The overall production is stellar throughout the album, with standout moments like the airy and light atmosphere of "Big Air." Each track creates an entirely different landscape for the listeners while still being incredibly cohesive as a whole project. The lyricism and vocal delivery is nothing to look past as well, while at times some lyrics can be repetitive, overall they offer a whole layer of complexity and human emotion behind each track. This project is so amazing and I recommend to a huge variety of open minded listeners.
