Get Used To It

KayCyy’s latest mixtape starts off relatively slowly but picks up steam quick as the beats and lyricism get better and better. The second track stumbles a bit, but the record’s midsection (tracks 3-6) shines with some of the best production so far, some out-of-this-world songwriting, and some truly engaging vocal processing. Those are the best the project has to offer. Consistency is the name of the game for the rest of the record as well, and other artists’ Carti-inspired vocals creep into the mix too. However, the vocals here are much tighter, and the production is sharpened up as though someone sat down and edited the track with precision, making for a good listening experience throughout. *Truth be told, KayCyy’s previous sound might have been a lot sadder and darker, unlike the much more up beat, radio-ready summer sound on tracks like Replay*. A couple tracks do drop the ball just a little bit more than others on the mixtape, but to its credit, the songs don’t ever slouch too far before picking themselves back up by the scruff of their necks to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
