Gates to the Sun

Joji and SahBabii linking up on Gates to the Sun is one of those collabs you wouldn’t expect, but somehow, it just works. Joji’s signature melancholic, lo-fi aesthetic blends surprisingly well with SahBabii’s laid-back, melodic flow, creating something that feels dreamy and effortless. It’s a cute little track—nothing too flashy or ambitious, just a soft, hypnotic vibe that washes over you.

Beyond just the music, though, the collab itself is interesting. Joji, coming from his indie-leaning, alt-R&B background, and SahBabii, known for his playful, surreal approach to Atlanta rap, represent two very different corners of internet-era music. Their fanbases don’t overlap much, but that’s what makes this kind of cross-pollination so cool—both artists thrive in deeply online, cult-like spaces, yet they find common ground in a sound that feels oddly natural.

That being said, Gates to the Sun is a very lowkey track. It’s not trying to do much, and for some, that might make it feel forgettable. But if you’re in the right mood—maybe a late-night drive or just zoning out—it’s got a certain hypnotic charm. It’s not a game-changer, but as a random, unexpected collab, it’s definitely worth a listen.
