Esquinas

Couldn't find an English translation for this album anywhere, so I have no clue what they're saying—but honestly, I’m definitely coming back to it once I do. The production is super lush, and the vocals? Gorgeous. The harmonies between the two singers really stand out. That being said, while the first two tracks completely blew me away, the rest of the album didn’t hit quite as hard. The songs started to feel a little repetitive toward the end since they don’t stray too much from the same sound. But honestly, that might just change the more I listen.

I’m still really glad I gave this a shot, though. For context, I listened Anavitória’s previous stuff after hearing this project but I can tell this album is new. before—it always felt kinda dull, with dark lyrics and a sound that never grabbed me. But this project? Totally shifted my perspective. I kept seeing people on Instagram hype this album up—both Brazilians and non-Brazilians—and I figured, “Okay, fine, I gotta see what the buzz is about.” And I’m so glad I did.

This album is so sweet and soft, with beautiful vocals, thoughtful lyrics, and production that really feels unique. Tracks like “Se Eu Usse Shoe” are definite highlights, though there are a few low points too, like “Quero Conta Pra São Paul.” It does get a little repetitive at times, but somehow, it never gets boring—it’s just such an enjoyable listen. I’ll definitely be spinning it again, and if you’re not Brazilian, I’d highly recommend translating the lyrics to get the full experience.
