Confession of Curse, First Love and the World

So, my friend put me onto this album, and wow—this was one of the wildest, most jarring experiences I’ve ever had with music. Lately, if you’ve been following my reviews, you’ve probably noticed I’ve been diving headfirst into heavy distortion and just absurdly loud, chaotic production. As someone who’s been getting more into noise music too, it only made sense that my friend would start throwing grindcore my way. One of the albums they recommended was this noise-grind masterpiece, and let me just say… yeah, it’s exactly that.

This album is straight-up chaos. It’s packed with blown-out instruments, ear-piercingly harsh sounds, and just this overwhelming wall of noise. But somehow, all of that madness has structure—it’s rhythmic and purposeful in a way that’s lowkey genius. What really surprised me, though, is how much melody is woven in. Like, yeah, it’s noise-grind, but there are these melodic sections that give the whole thing a sense of depth. The grindcore influence comes through in the way the guitars feel like they’re literally pummeling you. And the vocals? Holy shit, the screams are insane. They’re so raw and visceral that in some tracks, it genuinely sounds like the vocalist is in pain.

The thing that really blew my mind, though, is how diverse this album is. Every track feels completely different. There are moments where it shifts into full-on melody with actual singing, but it still keeps that blown-out, distorted edge. Then, out of nowhere, there’s a short emo rap track. Other songs lean heavy into straight noise, while some go back to the grindcore roots. Oh, and airhorns. Yes, there are multiple moments with airhorns. Like, why not?

Even with all that chaos and variety, the project somehow stays consistent as hell. It all just works. I loved this so much—huge thanks to my friend for the rec.
