Badkid

"Badkid" is a pretty interesting listen. It's mainly a Pop album, but you can hear influences from Punk Rock, Grunge, R&B, Hip-Hop, and more. At first, only listening to his newer stuff, Bakar's older vocals caught me off guard, but they grew on me as the album played, in typical Bakar fashion. There's a nostalgic vibe to it, kind of like the Pop-Punk bands from the 2000s, like Paramore. The lyrics dive into Bakar's personal experiences, especially his relationships and those awkward moments with exes. However, instead of being a downer, his witty humor makes the songs feel more fun than sad. The way he blends Pop and Rock elements, with his clever lyrics and upbeat singing, creates a unique sound that's both fresh and familiar. What I really love about this album is its versatility. One moment you’re vibing to a track with a strong R&B groove, and the next, you're hit with a Grunge-inspired guitar riff. This eclectic mix keeps things interesting and showcases Bakar's ability to blend different genres seamlessly. "Badkid" almost feels like a journey through different phases of music, bringing together various influences in a way that feels cohesive and authentic. It's like a nostalgic trip down memory lane, but with a modern twist. Despite the themes of troubled exes and rocky relationships, the album maintains a light-hearted and playful tone, making it an enjoyable listen from start to finish.
