a seasons end.

I’ve been hooked on Willy Rodriguez for a few months now. Honestly, it started with this Car Seat Headrest vibe, but over time, I’ve started to think that the band might even be better than Car Seat Headrest in some ways. It’s been crazy to watch them grow, and then there’s this track “Wetdream,” which—no joke—might just be one of the best things I’ve ever heard. When I found out that one of the two frontmen (Star, aka Alex) dropped a solo album with a cover that totally gives off Wetdream vibes.

What I got from spending that euro was a full-on masterpiece. A Season’s End by Drug Bug might even rival Wetdream in some ways. I mean, it’s not exactly the same thing, but there are moments where it hits that same emotional depth and energy, which is kind of wild because this is one guy doing it all. It feels like this album is the logical next step after Wetdream, but with a different flavor. It’s not just a Wetdream knockoff—it’s like Star took the best bits from that sound and turned them upside down, mixed it with his own twist, and created something completely fresh.

The production? Seriously top-tier. Star’s production style is completely his own. I don’t know if I’ve ever heard anything quite like it. It’s got this rawness and depth, but it’s super polished in a way that just works. You know that feeling when a new album drops and it immediately feels like it belongs in your life? Yeah, that’s what this does. It’s got that kind of vibe.

The vocals? Honestly, I’m still adjusting to Star’s voice, since I’m used to the other guy—Gabe’s, but it’s growing on me fast. Star’s got a deeper tone, which is kind of different, but it’s soulful, and you can tell there’s a lot of passion behind it. I have no doubt that in a few days, I’m gonna have every track from Star’s solo work on repeat, just like I did with Wetdream.

In the end, A Season’s End is straight-up good—great production, killer vocals, and a fresh perspective. I’m stoked to see where Star takes this, and I know I’m gonna be there, supporting him every step of the way.
